I was moving boxes – books, computer, printer – from the flat to take to the Fedex office at the Serena Hotel downtown. One box was beyond me, so I asked Christine if she could find a boy outside to help. She came back with the young man who collects fees from people leaving the University who don’t have an official sticker. He picked up the crate of books, and put it in the trunk of the car with no problem. I tried to give him some money for helping, but he wouldn’t take it, saying, “Madam, I assisted you.”
